1. To Live is to Grow

I really have been on a spiritual bootcamp recently!

I’m attending Mastin Kipp’s Love Uni-versity, am using Brian Johnson’s “Philosopher’s Notes”, am part of Deepak Chopra’s mediation challenge, am reading a book on personal power through awareness given to me by a friend, and have found that I keep on attracting like minded people who can give me their insights (and probably other things too.. I just can’t remember)!

I have been learning some very powerful things that are actually quite simple.

    (1) Should is something that “should” be removed from our vocabulary! We never have to live the life of another. Life is OURS for the taking, so don’t be afraid to make it your own!

    (2) Energy is everywhere. If you are emitting negative energy, that is what you will attract. If you are emitting positive energy, that is what you will attract. And, you will attract those who will help challenge you and aid in your growth.

    (3) Every situation is an opportunity to learn and grow.

    (4) None of us are perfect and who wants to be??!!!

    (5) Ego is everywhere! But, delve deep into your ego (do not escape it or put it down). Go so far into it and understand it (because this is how you perceive yourself)… then let it go.

    (6) Refrain from judging (even yourself).Try to walk a mile in another’s shoes to understand how they view the world. Replace your judgements with compassion.

    (7) Treat everything with love and compassion and it shall be returned.

    (8) Thoughts are powerful!!!!! You can really create your “perfect” world if you just believe.

    (9) Fear is nothing to fear. Dive deep into your fears, treat them with compassion, and ask the universe to give you the strength and persistence to keep going!!!

    (10) Appreciate everything and think positively!!!!

Those are just a few of the things I’ve been learning. And I’m quite sure there’s more to come.

As I was working today, a florist brought in a beautiful arrangement of flowers for display. I took a minute to really look at and appreciate the beauty of this flower. And there were many more flowers yet to bloom.

So, I have a little exercise for myself and all of us!!! Watch, appreciate, enjoy, love a flower from it blooming to it’s death (and even love and appreciate the bud in it’s death). Talk to the flower if you want! Write down your perceptions, your thoughts, your feelings. Do you draw any parallels between your life and the flower??

I also noted on my nature walk this morning that nature is truly the best thing ever. Trees just stand there for hundreds of years in the same position and DO absolutely nothing for that entire time… they just are!!!! I hope you get what I’m trying to say here (or I might just be too tired to get the point across)!!

  2. “…Then you feel like you are in darkness. You feel human and overwrought with emotion. It feels like taking a step back.

This is exactly what the beginning of the spiritual path is like. Bouncing back and forth between feeling blissful and clear and feeling ignorant and tortured.

Many people get caught in this cycle because they think that the blissful feeling is the goal and the tortured feeling is to be avoided. This is not true. Have no goals and no things to avoid. That is peace.

Keep meditating. The idea is to find peace regardless of your emotions or bliss. You can be peaceful and with emotions. Emotions come and go within the context of peace.

Stop judging whether or not you are living in the now. Stop judging how far you are along the path, or even if you are on it. These very thoughts will pull you out of the Now, out of Peace. Because judgement always occurs relative to something else, something by which you are measuring yourself.

There is nothing by which to measure yourself. You are One without a second. Your are Being itself.

Trust your Being, trust the process, and continue on your path. Sometimes you will be human, sometimes you will be Buddha. Once you go back and forth enough times, you find that part of you that remains the same the whole time.

That is You. That is That. “

  3. It’s All About Choice

I have been so excited lately that, since the beginning of this year, I have eaten every meal every day and haven’t skipped or “forgotten” to eat.

I know this isn’t a long length of time, but it is a huge achievement for me as of late!

And then, the other, as a celebration to my achievement, I let myself indulge a little bit.

    Overwhelming anxiety ensued!!!

I completely started to freak out because I had eaten more than what I would’ve like to.

A full on panic attack came over me and I started to become short with others and freak out about everything; what meal I was going to skip, how I was just going to eat very little for the next few days, how intensely I would have to work out, etc. Not to mention, OCD to the max!

And then I did something quite out of character. Something that I had not made the choice to do in a long time.

I took a deep breath and chose not to listen to my thoughts.

And, I chose not to skip eating a meal.

Though I had anxiety the next day about gaining weight because I didn’t skip due to my perceived “overeating” debacle, I made sure to notice when my anxieties arose, and to simply let them go as well as I could.

It is not worth my time (or yours) to worry. To worry about being perfect; being the skinniest, the prettiest, the best dressed, the richest, the most popular, what have you.

It is worth our time to enjoy ourselves and let go of anxiety and worry.

The energy that we hold within ourselves is the energy that we draw without ourselves.

For me, mediaiting, clearing my chakras, doing yoga and other things that enable my creativity ( “me” time), have all been essential in my wholly new found energy. But do what works for you!

And, I’ve really gotten tired of being a slave to my thoughts, feeling bad, being moody, and not eating!! I love food!

And besides, I would rather be happy and healthy than skinny and moody!
